Kids Movies In Theaters Now — Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
The beloved character from Shrek, Puss in Boots, gets ready for his own sequel. While the cat has taken life by the paw, he has burnt through 8 of his 9 lives. Now, Puss must embark on an adventure to find the mythical last wish to gain back his 9 lives. Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Florence Pugh, Harvey Guillen, and Olivia Colman star.
William Bibbiani writes in a review for The Wrap, “there are comic moments that land and action set pieces that pop, but the overwhelming sensation here is a meditation on the inevitability of death.”
The Amazing Maurice
A goofy, streetwise cat joins forces with a gang of talking rats to concoct the perfect money-making scheme in this adaptation of the 2001 children’s novel by Terry Pratchett. The script comes from Aladdin and Shrek co-writer Terry Rossio, who puts a similarly modern spin on the classic tale of the Pied Piper.
“The rodent in charge of the rescue mission explains that picking up the scent of their missing comrade was easy: ‘He was widdling all the way,'” writes Betsy Reed for The Guardian. “Just one of the many hilarious lines in this family animation adapted from the Terry Pratchett children’s novel about a crew of scam artist rodents.”
The film stars Hugh Laurie in the titular role alongside Emilia Clarke, Himesh Patel, and David Tennant.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return as Ant-Man and the Wasp in the third standalone movie in the Ant-Man series. This new adventure follows Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, along with Hope’s parents (Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas) and Scott’s daughter (Cassie Lang) as they explore the Quantum Realm. Standing in their way is Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors in his MCU film debut), a time-traveling, multi-versal adversary first introduced in the first season of Loki.
With so many great kids movies in theaters, there’s no reason not to take your whole family to the movies this weekend! So grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy one of these fabulous films.
